Over 8,400 attendees flocked to the Glastonbury Abbey Medieval Fayre this past weekend, celebrating a spectacular array of historical entertainments and activities.

The annual event, one of the most anticipated in Glastonbury's calendar, saw a significant increase in both activities and visitor satisfaction.

This year's Fayre featured an expanded roster of entertainment, including medieval battles, educational displays, and engaging performances.

Noteworthy groups like Historia Normannis brought history to life with detailed reenactments, while What A Palaver and the Knights of Albion dazzled crowds with fire juggling and jousting spectacles.

The Fayre also catered to younger visitors with a dedicated kids' area, offering have-a-go activities such as archery and longsword fighting.

Strolling jesters and fire-breathers added to the immersive experience, ensuring there was never a dull moment.

Despite the event's success, organisers acknowledged ongoing challenges with parking, a concern for both residents and visitors.

A spokesperson for the Abbey said: " As with all events, there are improvements to be made year after year, which we will be working on from now until next year's event. The dates for next year are yet to be decided but may see a move to slightly later in the year."

The Abbey are also looking for ways to increase capacity and improve accessibility for next year's Fayre.

The spokesperson continued: "Parking is a real issue, not just for visitors to the town but for the people who live here.

"We're actively seeking ways to add capacity to the event parking to reduce the pressure on the town and also create much more accessible parking for those that need it closer to the event.

"We are offering as much as is available at the moment, with the added pressure that the hundreds of participants that help make the event what it is also need somewhere to park for the duration of the event."
