A vital community service in Wells and Glastonbury, 'Singing for the Brain', provided by Somerset Arts Well CIC, is currently under financial strain.
This initiative, crucial for individuals with memory issues including Alzheimer's and dementia, has been a beacon of hope and respite for many, including a local family whose father, previously serving in the Wells fire service, regularly attends the sessions.
In light of the financial difficulties threatening the continuity of these sessions, a local resident has spearheaded a fundraising campaign through GoFundMe. This effort is essential to keep the bi-weekly sessions running, which have become indispensable for families dealing with dementia and Alzheimer's.
The GoFundMe page has already garnered £1000, reflecting the community's support, yet further contributions are needed to ensure the programme's longevity. These sessions, leveraging music's power to rekindle memories and bring joy, are facilitated by three committed individuals - Jo, Emma, and Eliza. Their dedication has been pivotal in sustaining the programme, but with escalating costs, the future of these sessions is uncertain.
The community is urged to support this cause by donating to the GoFundMe page: Support Singing for the Brain. Every donation, regardless of its size, contributes towards maintaining this invaluable service.
More information about the initiative can be found on the Somerset Arts Well website: Somerset Arts Well.
This fundraising initiative is about more than just keeping a programme operational; it's about preserving a service that brings light and comfort to those grappling with the challenges of dementia and Alzheimer's.
