Cobra Carnival Club is about to find out whether carnival spirit can survive hot wax.

The Wells-baesd club will hold a sponsored wax at Glastonbury Football Club on Friday, 24 July, from 7 pm. Members are preparing to put legs, backs, shoulders and even "some questionable eyebrows" on the line in the name of fundraising.

The club has promised an evening of laughs, support and, presumably, a few choice words.

Supporters are being invited to come along, sponsor the brave volunteers and cheer them through the pain.

Cobra Carnival Club said: "Cobra is taking on a sponsored wax, and trust us... you won't want to miss this one!

"From legs and backs to shoulders, and even tackling some questionable eyebrows, there are guaranteed to be some hilarious reactions throughout the night!"

The club said people who want to sponsor the event can send a message through its Facebook page or speak to one of its members.

Helen Kay Hair & Beauty has been thanked by the club for helping with the waxing. Which is generous, really, given some of the members may be saying less charitable things when the strips come off.

The event will take place at Glastonbury Football Club, with supporters asked to come along from 7 pm.
