Glastonbury’s new “friends of” group will unite residents to protect and enhance the town’s parks, heritage, and community spaces.

A new "Friends of" group is set to launch in Glastonbury, aiming to bring together residents who are eager to support town projects and enhance local spaces.

Expected to formalise by the end of this year, the group will focus on volunteering, fundraising, and providing hands-on support for a variety of initiatives.

The "Friends of" group aims to play a vital role in the maintenance of Glastonbury's public spaces, heritage sites, and community events. With local interest growing, the group could support projects that range from park clean-ups and preservation of historic sites to helping with town events that foster community spirit.

The formation of this group follows feedback from residents who want to contribute to Glastonbury's future.

At a recent council meeting, Councillor Rick Cook expressed his support for the initiative, stating, "This group will be a valuable asset to the town, allowing residents to take a hands-on role in keeping Glastonbury vibrant."

The new group has already received positive responses from council members and local organisations, who see it as an effective way to bring community members into the decision-making process for projects that impact the town. Updates on the group's structure, projects, and opportunities to get involved will be shared in the coming months, providing residents with clear pathways to participate in Glastonbury's growth and preservation.
