If you're hovering somewhere between "this'll do for now" and "I'd hand my notice in tomorrow if something decent popped up", welcome. This week's local job mix spans warehouses, care homes, spreadsheets and sacred ruins — so whatever mood you're in, we've probably got a role to match it.

Start with a solid, no-nonsense option: Full-time Warehouse / Stores Assistant at JPAT, Upper Langford. This is torque converters, remanufactured auto parts and shelves that need keeping in order. Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm, competitive pay depending on experience, plus pension and accident/illness cover. You'll be picking, packing, booking in stock, building kits and — once trusted — covering the odd sales call. Old-school in the best way: turn up, do the job properly, go home.

If you fancy something with a bit more gravitas (and a much bigger payslip), Director – Glastonbury Abbey is now open. Glastonbury Abbey is looking for someone to take the reins following the retirement of Janet Bell MBE. Permanent, based in Glastonbury, paying £66,445–£70,137 FTE, and covering everything from conservation and visitor experience to commercial performance and community engagement. Not a "let's see how it goes" role — but a genuinely rare local opportunity.

Prefer being out on the road to being pinned to a desk? There's a Driver Representative – Glastonbury role offering a headline £55,000 a year. No cold calling, no door knocking — just pre-booked appointments, measurements, surveys and showing product samples. Think demo kits and polite conversations, not Deliveroo panic.

Over in Street, the spreadsheets are calling with a Data Analyst – Merchandising, Street role based at head office (BA16 0EQ). Permanent position, focused on turning numbers into useful decisions for the merchandising team. Salary's not listed, but if dashboards spark joy and "forecast accuracy" doesn't make you sigh, it's worth a look.

Wells has a tidy office-based option with a Service Administrator (Contract) – JLA Group, Wells role paying £24,000 a year. You'll be logging repair jobs, handling customer enquiries, chasing engineer paperwork and prepping invoices. Structured, admin-heavy, and far less chaotic than most places with a printer.

For something more hands-on (and potentially better paid), Installer – Hillarys, Wells area might suit. Hillarys offer flexible full or part-time work, £50k earning potential, and the kind of independence that comes without office politics. Measuring windows, fitting blinds, going home.

At the serious end of the spectrum, Site Technical Manager – Mars Petcare, Castle Cary is a heavyweight permanent role. Mars Petcare are looking for someone to lead engineering and maintenance teams, manage million-pound budgets and keep a major FMCG site running smoothly. Big responsibility, big expectations, proper benefits.

And finally, one that actually makes a difference day to day: Activity Co-ordinator – Somerset Care, Castle Cary. Somerset Care are offering £13.26 an hour with enhanced weekend rates, full training provided, and a role focused on making residents' days brighter — not just ticking boxes. Wagestream, Blue Light Card discounts and real support included.

That's your local job gossip for the week. For more roles, late additions and the occasional curveball, have a nosy at the Glastonbury Nub News jobs board. Same time next week — kettle on.
