The local police are currently investigating both incidents and are appealing to the public for information.

A male suspect was seen pulling down flags on Thursday afternoon, causing damage to public property and posing a risk to pedestrian safety.

Then, on Saturday evening, flags were set on fire in the same area. It is currently unknown whether the two incidents are linked.

The incidents, which took place around the war memorial, have occurred during the coronation weekend, leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of the community.

If you have any information about the incidents, please contact the police on 5223105619.

Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
