Five people were injured in a road accident at Hartlake on Saturday night, which saw the road closed for more than two hours.

Police, fire and ambulance services were all called to the incident on Wells Road just before 11.30pm on Saturday, May 28. It was initially believed that people were trapped in the car, but when the emergency services arrived, nobody needed to be freed. The road was closed until around 2am.

A spokesman from Avon and Somerset Police said, "At approximately 11.25pm on Saturday 28 May we were called to Wells Road, Hartlake, to reports of a single-vehicle collision. Ambulance and fire services also attended the scene.

"Nobody was trapped in the vehicle, but five people required treatment at hospital for injuries.

"The road reopened in the early hours of Sunday morning after recovery work had been completed."

The casualties were taken to hospital in ambulances. A spokesman for the South West Ambulance Service said, "We sent two double-crewed land ambulances and an operations officer. We conveyed two patients to Royal United Hospital, Bath, and three patients to Yeovil District Hospital, by land ambulance."

None of the injuries were believed to be life threatening.
