The Victoria Field and Social Club in Street is urging the community to make their final contributions to its GoFundMe campaign, which will close on 2 December.

The campaign was launched to help the club navigate ongoing financial challenges, but there is still a gap to fill before reaching the target.

The club, a cornerstone of Street's community life, has been working to secure its future in the face of declining membership and rising costs. While the campaign has received generous support from members and beyond, the Victoria Club is asking anyone who hasn't donated yet to step forward and help protect this vital local hub.

David Redman, speaking for the club, said: "We're incredibly grateful for the support so far, but with just weeks left before the GoFundMe closes, we're asking the community to help us get across the finish line. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference."

The club is not facing immediate closure, but essential upgrades, including £8,000 for electrical work and roof repairs, are urgently needed. These improvements are vital for meeting safety standards and preparing the club for future projects, such as installing solar panels to reduce energy costs.

The GoFundMe campaign was launched earlier this year to give the community a direct way to support the club's recovery and growth. Donations will go towards addressing urgent maintenance needs and strengthening the club's finances to ensure its long-term sustainability.

With the 2 December deadline approaching, the club is appealing to locals to make a final contribution. Donations can be made through the GoFundMe page, which is accessible via the club's website at victoriaclubstreet.co.uk.

"This isn't just about funding maintenance—it's about preserving a community hub that brings people together," Mr Redman said. "The GoFundMe campaign has been a lifeline, and with just a little more support, we can ensure the Victoria Club continues to serve Street for years to come."

Residents can also stay updated on the club's activities and plans through its website and social media channels.
