It is a bank holiday and a number of events are taking place all week in Glastonbury and the surrounding area.

A number of these events in the Glastonbury area are being added to our recently revamped What's On section.

Our top event pick for this week is the Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza, which will be returning for its 25th anniversary celebration.

There will be a headline performance from Van Morrison, and Tanita Tikaram will be the event's special guest.

Also performing in the Abbey's historic surroundings will be The Staves and the Glastonbury Male Voice Choir. The evening will conclude with the traditional fireworks finale.

Founder Michael Eavis said: "It's so wonderful to be back together again enjoying this lovely space – especially to the songs of Van Morrison. What could be better?"

The event is taking place on Saturday (September 4) with a 4.30pm start, and for more information, check out the website here.

You can list your events - e.g. shows, films, sports fixtures, quiz nights, local markets, steak nights at the local pub, jazz choir rehearsals, or anything else - on our What's On page FREE of charge, just click this link and then click the black Nub It button.
