This weekend, the towns of Street and Glastonbury are packed with events that cater to diverse interests, ranging from historical conferences and benefit concerts to repair cafes and exciting sports viewings.

Whether you're into history, music, or community involvement, there's something for everyone.

CrusadeCon '24: A Historical Dive

Start your weekend with a scholarly journey at CrusadeCon '24 on Friday at the Glastonbury Town Hall. In partnership with Strode College, this history conference features six leading crusade historians who will delve into various aspects of the medieval crusading period. Attendees can enjoy a buffet lunch included with their ticket, and all profits will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support. It's a perfect blend of education and charity. Tickets are available at Strode Theatre.

Benefit Concert for Community Lunch

On the same day, enrich your evening with bardic songs, poems, and music at St Benedict's Church in Glastonbury. The Benefit Concert for Free Community Lunch starts at 7 PM and features performances by local artists including MC John Crow, Pok, Tim Raven, and others. All proceeds will support the free meals provided every Thursday at the church. It's a great opportunity to enjoy local talent while supporting a vital community resource.

Glastonbury Repair Café

Saturday brings the Glastonbury Repair Café at St. Benedict's Church, where locals can bring items in need of repair from 10 AM to 12 noon. This event promotes sustainability by fixing items instead of discarding them. Participants can enjoy a cup of tea and homemade cake while engaging with skilled repairers. It's a friendly gathering that combines practical help with community interaction.

An Evening with Philippa Hanna

Music lovers can enjoy "An Evening with Philippa Hanna" on Saturday at the Street Baptist Church from 7 PM to 9:15 PM. This event promises a beautiful night of inspirational music and storytelling by the acclaimed singer-songwriter.

Sports and Social Gatherings

The weekend also features several sports viewing events at The Market House in Glastonbury. Catch Leeds Rhinos vs Huddersfield Giants on Friday night, Italy Women vs Scotland Women on Saturday afternoon, and Exeter Chiefs vs Bath Rugby later that evening. It's a perfect setting for sports fans to gather and cheer on their favourite teams.

Karaoke

For those looking to unwind with music, the Royal British Legion in Street hosts a karaoke session led by Tina Louise on Sunday from 4 PM to 9 PM.

Whatever your interests, you'll find activities that connect, inspire, and entertain. Don't miss out on these wonderful opportunities to immerse yourself in the local culture and community spirit.
