Somerset Council is urging residents to put their recycling and rubbish bins out the night before their collection day, with a strict deadline of 6am for collections falling between Monday, 24 June and Wednesday, 26 June.

Crews will be starting early to manage the forecasted hot weather and to navigate the increased traffic due to the Glastonbury Festival.

These adjustments aim to minimise disruptions to recycling, rubbish, and garden waste collections across the county.

Waste collection is a demanding, physical job, and these early starts help reduce the time crews spend working during the hottest part of the day. In addition to early starts next week, crews will be working across the county tomorrow (Saturday, 22 June) to collect any missed recycling from recent days. Residents who have reported a missed collection are advised to leave their bins, boxes, and bags out for collection.

To report a missed waste collection, residents can visit: www.somerset.gov.uk/missed-collection.
