Two men are going to be deported after Immigration Enforcement officials found them working illegally at a Glastonbury garage.
Acting on intelligence, Immigration Enforcement officers visited the Esso Garage, Wirral Park Road, Glastonbury, at about 10.45am today (Thursday December 19).
Checks identified that two men were working illegally, a 34-year-old Sri Lankan national who had overstayed his visa and a 38-year-old Indian national who had entered the UK illegally.
Both men were transferred to immigration detention pending their removal from the UK.
The business was served a civil penalty referral notice warning that a financial penalty of up to £20,000 per illegal worker found will be imposed unless the employer can demonstrate that appropriate right-to-work document checks were carried out, such as seeing a passport or Home Office document confirming permission to work.
If proof is not provided, this is a potential total of up to £40,000.
