The crime figures for December 2023 highlight a significant reduction in reported incidents in both Glastonbury and Street.

In Glastonbury, the array of crimes included anti-social behaviour (14), burglary (2), criminal damage and arson (3), other theft (5), public order (4), shoplifting (9), vehicle crime (3), violent crime (28), and other crime (1). This represents an improvement across several areas, notably in violent crimes which saw a decrease from 36 in November.

The reduction in shoplifting and vehicle crime was particularly significant, with vehicle crime dropping from 7 incidents in November to just 1.

A spokesperson for the local police said: "The decline in crime rates across Glastonbury and Street is a positive outcome of the work by our officers and the cooperation from our communities. We remain dedicated to tackling areas of concern, particularly violent crime, which we continue to address through targeted initiatives."

November's figures for Glastonbury also included other theft (8), possession of weapons (1), public order (7), shoplifting (8), theft from the person (2), vehicle crime (4), violent crime (36), and other crime not specified. We encourage the community to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities. Together, we can continue to make Glastonbury and Street safer for everyone."
