The United Nations Climate Change Conference COP26 takes place in Glasgow over a fortnight from now until 12th November.

During this time, Glastonbury Town Council is hosting two events: an evening of talks, and a Resilience Open Day.

A practical, seminar-style event with contributions from the audience, discussing how to affect change personally, in your community, and in your workplace.

Tell us how you're responding to the climate and ecological emergency. An invitation for you to share your projects, ideas, and questions, no matter how small. Find out what others are doing, how you can get involved, and what support there is.

With stalls, posting boards, and more, come together to help build Glastonbury's resilience.

What is the purpose?

• To offer people a variety of ways to share experiences and ideas for responding to the climate and ecological emergency, and building Glastonbury's resilience.
• To listen, record, and build on this, by developing a strategy and action plan for Glastonbury.
• To bring people together and build a sense of shared experience in this diverse community.
• To help people feel supported, and empowered, in their responses to this frightening climate and ecological emergency.

Who will take part?

The council is inviting residents of Glastonbury and the surrounding area; local businesses; community groups; local charities and organisations; local specialists who have experience and knowledge to share.

What themes will be covered?

1. Reducing – ways of saving energy, reducing waste, simplifying life (low tech)
2. Decarbonising – renewable energy, low carbon heating, electric vehicles (tech)
3. Supporting nature-based solutions – tree and hedge planting, rewilding, food.
4. Influencing – ways of sharing, supporting, learning, communicating.
5. Adapting – preparing for change, practical adaptations, building resilience, community networks, emotional support.
