Conservatives name Lil Osborn for council election

Lil Osborn has been named as the Conservative candidate for Glastonbury South and Meare at next year's Somerset Council elections.
The party announced her selection on Thursday, 1 October, ahead of the elections in May 2027.
According to the announcement, Osborn has known Glastonbury for more than 50 years and moved to the area around a decade ago.
She spent 30 years in teaching, retiring as the headteacher of a school for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
Since moving to Glastonbury, she has worked as a carer for older people and now works as an independent advocate, helping people make their views heard.
The Conservatives say her priorities include tackling anti-social behaviour, protecting freedom of speech and balancing tourism with the needs of people living in the area throughout the year. Somerset County
The candidate announcement also invites residents to share their priorities and explain what they believe Somerset Council should change locally.
