Clarks Village is gearing up to crown its next CEO—Canine Executive Officer—as the popular Pawsome Pooch weekend returns this September.

The two-day event, which has become a favourite among dog lovers in the region, will take place on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September from 11 am to 4 pm.

The Pawsome Pooch event, which is free and open to all, will see a doggy takeover at the Somerset shopping outlet. Highlights include have-a-go agility and trick sessions, expert displays, pooch pampering, caricature pet portraits, and demonstrations by Guide Dogs. But the star attraction will be the canine-casting photography competition to find Clarks Village's next top dog.

Professional pet photographers will be on the lookout throughout the weekend, offering free dog photo shoots. The best entries will be shortlisted and put to a public vote to determine who will take over the prestigious title of CEO—Canine Executive Officer. The winner will not only become the official canine consultant for Clarks Village but will also feature as the shopping outlet's poster star. They and their owner will receive VIP invites to future events at Clarks Village, along with a special prize package.

The current CEO, Bailey the whippet, who won the inaugural Pawsome Pooch event in 2022, will be handing over the title. Bailey's owner, Harriet French, said: "Bailey was so happy her portrait won 'Pawsome Pooch 2022', especially after she concentrated so hard on sitting still! She has really enjoyed being involved in events at Clarks Village since then and loved modelling for the summer campaign. She has become a bit of a celebrity, with people spotting her on bus adverts and getting lots of attention when she visits her favourite Clarks Village brands. She is really looking forward to wearing her crown to this year's event and casting her vote for the next Pawsome Pooch."

Chris Davis, Centre Director of Clarks Village, said: "Pawsome Pooch is an incredible weekend of dog-filled fun activities with a fantastic atmosphere. The event celebrates Clarks Village being a dog-friendly outlet with a whole host of free activities, and we cannot wait to bring it back this September for all our guests and their beloved furry companions."

Dog owners who wish to enter their pooches in the CEO competition are encouraged to pre-book a photo shoot in advance due to limited availability. However, walk-up snap sessions will also be available throughout the weekend with the roaming 'pup-arazzi' photographer.
