Firefighters in Street have had their busiest month this year so far, responding to 40 calls.

July had previously been their busiest month to date, with 27 calls.

The incidents attended include:

-      A fire in a pub in Bridgwater (August 2)

-      An agricultural fire in Cheddar (August 2)

-      A domestic fire in Taunton (August 3)

-      A fire in the open in Shepton Mallet (August 4)

-      A field fire in Baltonsborough (August 7)

-      An out-of-control bonfire in Pedwell (August 7)

-      A field fire near Taunton (August 9)

-      An outbuilding fire in Glastonbury (August 10)

-      A field fire in Godney (August 12)

-      An agricultural vehicle fire in Binegar (August 13)

-      A warehouse fire in Street (August 14)

In a post on the Street Fire Station Facebook page it says: "Again we say thanks to the families at home for your patience and to the employers that let our firefighters respond from their places of work!"

All of the firefighters at Street are on-call firefighters, which means that they respond from their homes or work places rather than a fire station, and most will have other jobs too.

If you are interested in becoming an on-call firefighter you can find out more HERE
