A farm in Baltonsborough has been told by Mendip District Council that it can construct a new silage area.

A planning application for prior notification of agricultural development, for excavation works and construction of a silage clamp area for the storage of winter forage for the dairy herd at Briars Farm, Back Lane, Baltonsborough, was submitted by George Winstone.

The application said that the farm's existing storage needs updating and is inadequate, with the council agreeing that it could proceed with the works as it would not require prior planning approval.
