The Aster Group housing association has revealed plans to build six homes on the site of Norbins Road car park in Glastonbury.

The company has put its plans out for consultation prior to a formal planning application being submitted.

All six homes will be classed as affordable housing, after Mendip District Council approved the transfer of the site to the association last month.

Aster is looking to demolish the existing row of garages and bring forward a development comprising six dwellings.

In the absence of a dedicated turning head, the layout makes provision for entry to and from the rear service lane, the retention of parking for the nursery and school, as well as an opportunity for new planting.

Mendip has committed to work with Aster to maximise the affordable housing delivery on this site.

By working with an affordable housing provider from the outset there is scope to secure grant funding to maximise the affordable housing being provided over and above the council's policy targets.

Due to Covid restrictions, the opportunity for a public consultation in person is not possible. Therefore, to share your thoughts, comments, observations or concerns, you need to log on to www.norbinsroadcarpark.clplanning.co.uk.

There is a comments section where you can leave feedback or pose questions. Aster plans to submit a planning application in late January 2021 and therefore a deadline of December 22 has been set for the close of the consultation.
