A van fire overnight at Ashcott Playing Fields is believed to have been deliberate.

Just after midnight today (February 29) a fire appliance from Street was mobilised to reports of a van fire in the car park at the playing fields in Kings Lane.

Upon arrival this was found to be a van fire which was well alight. Crews extinguished the blaze using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet.

The van was severely damaged by the fire, which is believed to have been started deliberately. All details of this fire have been passed to police and they say they will investigate.
