The police are appealing for information after a man was found injured on the A39 at between Glastonbury and Wells.

Officers were alerted by the ambulance service just after 11.30pm on Monday 27 May, and the road was closed until 10am today (May 28). A man in his 50s was taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

He was found in Coxley with serious injuries after a driver swerved to avoid him. Police are keen to hear from anyone with any information about how the man came by his injuries.

Officers want to hear from anyone who saw a man carrying a backpack walking along that stretch of road at around that time, or who has any dashcam footage which could help.

Anyone who can help can get in touch through www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/contact, or by calling 101, quoting reference 5219117677.

The road was closed overnight pending police investigations at the scene, recovery of the vehicle and clearing debris from the road.
