A key stretch of the A361 linking Shepton Mallet and Glastonbury has been closed for nearly a month as part of a major drainage scheme.

The closure, which came into effect today, will last until Thursday, 22 August, with a continuous round-the-clock restriction in place.

The works are part of Somerset Council's Edgarley Road Drainage Scheme.

The timing of the closure has been planned to coincide with the school summer holidays due to the road's proximity to Millfield Prep School.

Engineers will attempt to reopen the route on weekends where feasible, though this cannot be guaranteed. A signed diversion is in place, directing motorists via Wells using the A39 and A371. Drivers are advised to plan ahead to avoid disruption.
