26 Sep 2026 - 27 Sep 2026
Saturday 26 September
An act of advocacy through collective communal expression.
This exhibition is part of the Sacred Birth Centre's advocacy 'Birth Stories' project, funded by The National Lottery's Community Fund. The project has focused on community art and poetry workshops to enable birthing people to bring their birth stories into the light, to give a voice to birth, create space for healing, and to push for change in the maternity system.
Birth is one of the most universal human experiences. And yet for too long, the voices of those who live it have been absent from public conversation.
Because we believe that when birth stories are heard, birth culture changes.
That when birthing people are witnessed, something shifts, in individuals, in communities, and in the systems that surround them.
Every piece of work in this exhibition was made by someone who lived it. Every voice belongs to a person whose experience deserves to be known and expressed.
The exhibition moves through different aspects of birth and the birth experience, from loss to joy, from the postnatal period to the ecstatic, holding space for the full spectrum of what birth can be.
It has been designed not just to be seen, but to be felt, to create the kind of meaningful connection and reflection that changes how we think, talk and care about birth.
This is not a clinical space. It is a space of witnessing, of honouring, and of believing that the voices of birthing people matter, and that sharing them is how we begin to change things.
See you there.
