Glastonbury Dragons Wild Hunt on Saturday 24 October 2026
The Glastonbury Dragons 10th anniversary year continues with the Wild Hunt event (known by some as the Samhain Procession).
Special guests for the first time at the Glastonbury Dragons Wild Hunt are The Pentacle Drummers, while they have been guests at all the Glastonbury Dragons May Fayre events this is the very first time they will be drumming at the Wild Hunt event.
This October the Glastonbury Dragons in their 10th anniversary year, will once more emerge to process down Glastonbury High Street where they will 'battle for the season' by the Market Cross before processing down Benedict Street and over to Tor Leisure Centre where an outdoor Ancestors Fire Ceremony will take place lit by King Arthur.
There seems to be some confusion regarding the 'battle for the season,' the 'battle' isn't a battle but a symbolic dance, it's the visual representation for the changing of the season on the wheel of the year, summer to winter and winter to summer. The Red Dragon representing summer and the White Dragon winter. The same with the Battle of the Winter and Summer Kings during the ancestor ceremony.
Joining the Glastonbury Dragons will be special guests The Pentacle Drummers with Glastonbury Border Morris, Savage Sisters Morris, Glastonbury Dragon Drummers, The Drummers of Avalon, Gwyn Ap Nudd his attendants, the Glastonbury Dragons Ceremonial team and King Arthur with Excalibur.
On the day the Glastonbury Dragons need their Dragon Legs, they can fly but they can't walk without you! Just turn up at Butts Close Car Park on the day and become a Dragon leg. There are height restrictions for Dragon legs, more details are on our Facebook and Instagram pages nearer the time.
Organised by the Glastonbury Dragons CIC, the event relies on volunteers to create the magic. Help is welcome with: Being a dragon leg during the procession, setting up signs and equipment, helping on the day, joining planning meetings, maintaining the dragons.
