Recommendations for the future of Somerset's Libraries Service were unveiled today (16 October), with a final decision expected to be made next month (5 November).
For the remaining 15 library buildings, Somerset County Council would seek to develop 'Community Library Partnerships' (CLPs) where communities would support library buildings in partnership with the County Council.

The Fire Service attended a Vehicle Fire in the above area.
Fire Appliances from Chard and Ilminster were mobilised to this incident. On arrival, crews confirmed one Agricultural Vehicle on fire, Crews extinguished the fire using Two Breathing Apparatus, One Hose Reel Jet and One Compressed Air Foam Jet.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
The fire is now extinguished and these are the full and final details.

Location: Common Moor Drove, Glastonbury
One Fire Engine from Glastonbury was sent to a report of a fire that could be seen in the distance. On arrival crews confirmed this was several agricultural buildings and various vehicles involved in the fire. A further Fire Engine from Street and one from Wells was sent and a Water Carrier from Bridgwater.

On Monday (15 October) the first of a number of county-wide events takes place to hear local people's views on health and care in Somerset, and explore how it could change in future.
The first two sessions take place next week; the first is at Berrow Village Hall, Burnham-on-Sea, on Monday afternoon, 3pm-6.30pm, closely followed by Great Bow Wharf, Langport on Wednesday 17 October, 10am to 2pm).

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call reporting a road traffic collision at the above location.
On arrival the incident commander requested the attendance of the rescue tender from Glastonbury to assist at this incident.

One fire engine from Glastonbury Fire Station was mobilised to reports of a vehicle on fire on the side of the road from a passer by.
On arrival crews confirmed one vehicle to be well alight and set to work using one compressed air foam attack jet, one hose reel jet with two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.
Crews requested the attendance of the Police as the Meare Road was completely shut and it was believed this could be malicious ignition.
Crews also requested the attendance of a second appliance from Street Fire Station to assist with water due to running fuel fires coming from the vehicle.
This fire has now been extinguished and the vehicle has been completely destroyed by the fire. Police have attended and have now taken duty of care of this incident and our crews have come away.
