Two men have been charged with attempted murder following an incident in Glastonbury earlier this week.

A male pedestrian was injured in a collision with a vehicle at about 12.10pm on Tuesday June 2 in Pound Close. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical, but stable, condition.

Three men have been charged in connection with a series of lead thefts from churches across Somerset, including from St Mary's Church in Meare.

In a joint investigation with Lincolnshire Police, the three men have been charged with conspiracy to steal between August 2018 and March 2020. The charge partly relates to 11 offences of theft from churches in the force area

Cycle routes in and around Glastonbury could be connected up or enhanced as part of council plans to cut car use and reduce engine idling.

Mendip District Council has drawn up a list of routes it wishes to improve as part of its strategy to make the district carbon-neutral by 2030.
