Glastonbury and Wells Extinction Rebellion are planning a protest at Glastonbury Town Hall

Glastonbury and Wells Extinction Rebellion will be at Glastonbury Town Hall on Friday August 28 at noon with banners drawing attention to the "millions of pounds invested in fossil fuel companies by pension investors, particularly local government".

According to the group, nearly half of all investments worldwide are made by pension funds. They say that in the UK there are 70 council pension funds, worth £200 billion, with more than five million members.

A previous Glastonbury Frost Fayre

Having deliberated long and hard over recent weeks, it is with a heavy heart that Glastonbury Town Council has announced that this year's Frost Fayre has been cancelled due to the coronovirus pandemic.

The annual event held on the last Saturday in November provided a spectacle which last year attracted more than 200 stall holders.

The Abbot's Way School in Meare

A planning application has been submitted to change the use of a former boarding house in Meare to a new school for pupils with learning difficulties.

The application for the change of use of a former school boarding house to teaching facility, initially hosting no more than 15 pupils, building up to 45 in three years' time with nine staff on site at 52 St Mary's Road, Meare, has been submitted to Mendip District Council by Abbot's Way School co-founder and joint head Gareth Wright.
