Mendip has been praised as a great place to work from home

As many people find themselves with changing working patterns due to the coronavirus crisis, the Mendip area has emerged as the third best place to work from home in the UK, according to research by Uswitch.com, the comparison and switching service.

Mendip has been placed third in the Uswitch Remote Working Index, which ranks the desirability of the UK's 100 biggest areas based on broadband speed, green spaces, air quality, crime rates, quality of schools, and GPs per 100,000 people.

Michael Eavis was speaking at the Wells Festival of Literature

Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis has said that "massive testing arrangements" could be in place if the event takes place next year.

Mr Eavis was speaking at the Wells Festival of Literature last night (October 21) and said that coronavirus testing arrangements could be used if the pandemic was still around at the time the festival is due to take place.

Converting garages into living accommodation is proving popular in Glastonbury, with a planning application being submitted and another being approved over the past week.

The application that has been submitted this week is to extend an existing driveway by dropping four kerbs and the conversion of an existing flat-roofed garage into a living space with a pitched roof and front window in place of the current garage door, and replacing the existing single-glazed rear property entrance at 24 Hill Head Close, Glastonbury, by Robert and Sarah Weech.
