Hugging will be allowed from May 17

Indoor hospitality venues will reopen and hugging will be allowed as the country moves to the next step out of coronavirus lockdown restrictions on May 17.

Significant parts of the hospitality industry will reopen and people are being advised to use common sense and personal responsibility rather than government rules when it comes to social distancing, after data confirmed the government's "four tests" for easing Covid restrictions had been met.

Some of Mark Lain's Destiny's Role gamebooks

Former Glastonbury resident and ex-St Benedict's and St Dunstan's pupil Mark Lain became a published author a few years ago when he launched his adventure gamebook series entitled Destiny's Role.

Four books are now available on Amazon with combined sales of nearly 1,000 copies and Mark is currently working on the series' latest entry, Red Monsoon, after it was funded on Kickstarter in January.

To mark Mental Health Awareness Week, the team behind the campaign to save Mendip's last adult mental health ward say they have been told it will now not be closed until summer 2022 at the earliest, with a recent protest in Glastonbury helping to highlight their cause.

The decision by the Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to close St Andrew's Ward in Wells followed a two and a half-year period of consultation with staff, patients, carers and colleagues in the voluntary sector and people with an interest in mental health to co-create a new model of mental health care for Somerset.
