A woman has been charged with murder following the death of a man in a village near Glastonbury.

Avon & Somerset police have named the woman as Christine Kekkonen, a 36-year-old who was charged in connection with the death of Henri Kekkonen, 41.

Both lived at a house in Dunford Terrace, in Baltonsborough.

Police confirmed Mr Kekkonen died from a stab wound.

Avon and Somerset police were called to a property in Baltonsborough on the afternoon of Thursday, May 9.

Paramedics were called at 4.30pm, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 5.30pm that day.

Police said a woman was arrested on suspicion of murder that evening.

Today (Saturday) police issued a statement confirming she has been charged with murder, and naming her as Christine Kekkonen, and she will appear before magistrates in Bristol later today.

"Although formal identification has not yet been carried out, we believe the deceased to be 41-year-old Henri Kekkonen," said a police spokesperson.

"Henri's family have been updated following this significant development in our investigation.

"Our thoughts remain with them at this tragic time and specialist family liaison officers will continue to support and update them. A post-mortem examination concluded Henri died of a stab wound," she added.
