Forget waiting for the universe to send a sign — if you're looking for work in Glastonbury or Street, the signs are already up.
Lifeways Group is looking for care support workers, helping adults with learning disabilities with day-to-day living, cooking and other bits that keep life ticking. Shifts are flexible, training's provided, and you even get a Blue Light Card — handy if you fancy cheaper coffee and cinema tickets.
If spreadsheets are more your thing than support plans, there's a BI Developer / Dynamics / Reporting role paying up to £85,000. Yes, really. It's hybrid, involves data wizardry, and almost certainly comes with a laptop fancier than yours.
In Street, Millfield School is recruiting a catering assistant with a knack for food hygiene and a friendly smile. You'll be feeding some of the brightest young minds in Somerset — or at least making sure they get chips with lunch.

Local care homes are after a relief chef, paid up to £20 an hour to whip up comforting classics and keep kitchens running smoothly. If you can make a roast dinner without setting off the smoke alarm, you're halfway there.
Engineering types can take their pick — there's a lead water treatment engineer and a water treatment engineer role, both field-based, both well paid, and both ideal if you like tinkering with pipes and talking about pH levels.
There's also a learning support assistant role for someone patient, calm, and ready to work one-to-one with a pupil who needs extra help. Roughly £95 a day and the chance to genuinely make a difference — which beats doom-scrolling any day.

For the night owls, a warehouse operative (nights) job pays £33.63 an hour. That's right — £33.63 an hour. If you can handle boxes, barcodes and bad 3am banter, this one's for you.
And if your idea of community service involves an actual uniform, Avon and Somerset Police are recruiting Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) in Glastonbury. The pay's decent (£33k–£36k), the pension's solid, and you'll get to know everyone in town — whether you want to or not.
So if you're tired of asking the tarot for direction, maybe start with a job application instead. You can browse all current roles — or post your own — at glastonbury.nub.news/jobs.
