Glastonbury Abbey Easter Holiday Events

Time Travelling Carpenter - Friday 7th April 2023

When: 1pm to 4pm

Where: Main Abbey

Jeff Loader is an experienced craftsman and combines his craft knowledge and skills with his passion for history to present demonstrations and activities for all to enjoy.

It is believed by some game historians that the modern games of table billiards, snooker and pool originated from a medieval game played on the ground with maces/sticks, iron hoop, balls and a King pin/skittle.

In authentic medieval costume Jeff will present his interpretation of a medieval ball (bille) yard and provide all the equipment for visitors to the Abbey to participate in playing the game. It's straightforward to learn, quick to play and tremendous historical fun for ages 8 to 80!

Children must be accompanied by an adult.
