A recently submitted planning could bring Wagamama to Clarks Village in Street.

The application outlines a proposal for full planning permission to amalgamate units 29 and 30 at Clarks Village - previously home to Samsonite and Jaeger - into a new, larger unit would then be repurposed as a restaurant with an associated external plant, including a new shopfront and reconfigured mezzanine levels.

"The proposed operator is Wagamama, a respected and popular restaurant brand specialising in fine Asian cuisine. This addition would extend the choice of quality dining facilities available to visitors and residents alike, and contribute positively to both the daytime and evening economies," the application states.

Wagamama is a British restaurant chain, serving Asian food based on Japanese cuisine.

The application also points out that there is considerable pressure on existing food and drink outlets within the centre during peak trading periods.

Currently, the council has yet to decide on the application - although they are due to decide whether to approve the application by the end of August.

If approved, residents and visitors of Street can look forward to yet another appetising option in their shopping trips at Clarks Village.
