Three engines were called to a fire in Glastonbury High Street yesterday evening (February 24).

Just after 6pm, fire engines from Glastonbury, Street and Wells were sent to reports of an alarm sounding and a smell of burning at a building in Glastonbury High Street.

On arrival crews discovered a strong smell of burning in the communal area of the building and the alarms were sounding.

The fire was discovered in one of the flats involving cooking materials that had been left on a hob.

Crews used one hose reel jet, one 45ml jet, one thermal imaging camera and two breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.
