The Sheppey Inn - five minutes from Glastonbury and 10 from Wells - has recently been given a notable nod from The Times, securing a place in its top 10 list of best pubs to visit this summer.

The Times highlighted The Sheppey's "marvellous selection of local cider," a standout offering in a region renowned for its exceptional apple production and cider-making. This, along with the frequent live gigs, enhances the pub's reputation as a nexus of vibrant cultural and social activity.

Historically, there has always been a pub in Godney, serving the hard-working farmworkers of the Somerset Levels.

The current proprietors, Ben and Tamsin Costigan, moved to the area from Bristol in 2019. With a background in community work, they purchased The Sheppey Inn in 2020.

The couple had previously volunteered in a community project to reopen their local library, transforming it into a community hub, café, event venue, and a space for local groups.

The Costigans hope to foster the same spirit of community in their stewardship of The Sheppey Inn.

If you're yet to visit The Sheppey, this summer might be an ideal time. Experience the unique atmosphere between Wells and Glastonbury that has led this pub to be recognised as one of the UK's top choices.
