The Lion at West Pennard has been given a Travellers' Choice Award from TripAdvisor.

Travellers' Choice Awards recognise businesses that are consistently given great reviews and 'demonstrate a commitment to hospitality excellence.'

Owner Barrie Wilson took over The Lion (formerly the Red Lion) just less than two years ago, giving the pub with rooms a stylish revamp, and reimagining the menus with the aim of making The Lion a must-visit destination for both locals and those from further afield.

He said: "We're chuffed to bits to have received a Travellers' Choice award from TripAdvisor, which secures The Lion a place in its top 10% of places.

"It's not even two years yet since we opened the newly revamped The Lion, but our brilliant team has worked hard to transform it into a destination venue attracting both locals and those from elsewhere. We've had visitors from around the UK and the world, many of whom have never been down to the south-west before and have absolutely loved it. So, we hope The Lion and our team is helping to put Somerset on the destination map.

"I'd personally like to thank all our customers who have supported us through a really tricky 18 months. This recognition from TripAdvisor is not only for our great team but also for our customers who have made The Lion what it is today."
