Tobias Turley, an actor from Street, Somerset, has made a significant mark on the national stage by winning the final of ITV's 'Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream'.

This remarkable achievement sees him secure a lead role in the West End production of 'Mamma Mia!' at the Novello Theatre in London.

Turley, 23, has been passionate about the arts since a young age. He grew up in Street before honing his skills at the Guildford School of Acting at 18.

While he has already earned accolades for his performances in international shows like West Side Story in Ljubljana and Heathers the Musical, 22-year-old Toby is no stranger to the local stage either. He has appeared in several local productions, including roles in 'Dick Whittington' at the Octagon in Yeovil, 'Big Top' and 'Jack and the Beanstalk' both at Strode Theatre.

His dedication to musical theatre was evident following his degree, leading to a notable role as Kurt in 'Heathers the Musical' at The Other Palace in London.

Now, his portrayal of Sky in the 'Mamma Mia!' themed reality TV show has brought him into the limelight.

Host Zoe Ball announced Turley and his co-winner Stevie Doc as the victors in an emotional finale, bringing joy and disbelief to both winners.

"I was quite nervous and hesitant to even apply for this show in the first place," Turley said. "But I thought it'd be such a great thing... you don't win the raffle if you don't buy a ticket."

The show saw 14 aspiring performers vying for the top spots, judged by a panel including Alan Carr, Jessie Ware, Amber Riley, and Samantha Banks. Turley emerged victorious against Owen Johnston, a theatre usher from Belfast.

The live final featured performances of classic 'Mamma Mia!' songs, with Turley performing 'I've Been Waiting For You', showcasing his vocal and acting prowess. A highlight of the show was a group rendition of 'The Winner Takes It All', adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

Abba's Bjorn Ulvaeus sent a heartfelt message to the finalists, congratulating them on their achievement. The musical, a longstanding stage hit featuring Abba's songs, gained further popularity with the 2008 movie adaptation starring Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper.

Judy Craymer, the creator and global producer of 'Mamma Mia!', expressed her delight at the result, saying, "It's a joyous result and I'm delighted to welcome Stevie and Tobias to join the West End cast... They were all such a joy to work with and are all winners in my eyes."

Turley's win marks the beginning of a new chapter in his career, with his West End debut set for Monday, January 29, 2024. Tickets for 'Mamma Mia!' featuring Tobias Turley and Stevie Doc are now on sale, offering audiences the chance to witness the talents of these rising stars in musical theatre.
