Street’s Shoemakers Museum announces after-dark Halloween trail
By Laura Linham 8th Oct 2026
The Shoemakers Museum in Street will open its galleries for a Halloween torchlight trail this month, with costumed characters joining families as they explore. The after-dark event takes place on Friday, 30 October, as part of a half-term programme running from 23 October to 1 November.
Visitors will follow clues through the museum at the entrance to Clarks Village, encountering characters who may help, hinder or surprise them along the way. Families are encouraged to come in Halloween costumes.
Arrival slots are available at 4.15pm, 4.55pm and 5.35pm, with the museum remaining open until 6.30pm. Tickets must be booked in advance and cost £4 for children, £5 for adult museum pass holders and £7.50 for adults without a pass.
The daytime programme includes a Museum of Lost Shoes trail, challenging visitors to solve clues and reunite shoes with their owners. Storytelling sessions on Monday, 26 October, at 11am and 2pm are included with a museum pass and require no booking.
Children can also make Halloween puppets on Wednesday, 28 October, between 10.30am and 12.30pm. The workshop costs £3.50 for child annual pass holders and £4.50 for children without a pass.
A lantern-making workshop follows on Friday, 30 October, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, with children able to take their creations home or bring them to the evening trail. Accompanying adults attend that workshop free.
The puppet and lantern workshops require booking. Full details and booking links are available on the Shoemakers Museum website.
