Street's High Street and surrounding areas, including Leigh Road, are currently under the spotlight due to a surge in reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB), prompting local police to intensify their presence in an effort to curb the disturbing trend.

The beat team, responding to the community's concerns, has committed to increasing patrols in these key areas, aiming to effectively address and manage any ASB instances.

"Our team is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of Street's residents and visitors. We are intensifying patrols and will address any incidents of anti-social behaviour promptly and effectively," a police spokesperson said.

In a move to tackle the root causes of anti-social behaviour, particularly among the youth, the police have also partnered with local schools.

Initiatives such as 'cuppa with a cop' sessions and participation in restorative justice conferencing have been introduced. These programmes are designed to foster a better understanding between young people and law enforcement, addressing issues before they escalate into more serious offences.
