Street Post Office is set to reopen its doors — five months after it closed suddenly, leaving locals without vital services.

The branch at 85 High Street shut on January 4, 2025, after WHSmith, who ran it, claimed it was no longer "sustainable" to keep it going.

But now a new couple – described as "experienced" in running Post Offices – have been found to take it over, and the service will return on Monday, June 9, from 1pm.

Locals will be able to access the same services as before, with the Post Office open 49 hours a week. Opening times will be Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, and Saturdays, 9am to 1pm.

Antoinette Chitty, Post Office Area Change Manager, said: "We know how important a Post Office is to a community and we are delighted to soon be restoring service at the same location as before."
