Street Parish Council's Planning Advisory Committee will meet at Crispin Hall on Tuesday, 14 January 2025, at 6pm to review significant planning applications, including two major housing developments and a proposal for a new takeaway in the town centre.

The meeting will open with a public participation session where residents can raise concerns or ask questions.

Developers Halton Planning Services and Curo have been invited to present updates and answer questions on their respective housing projects during this session.

Halton Planning Services will provide details on their application (2024/2118/OUT) for up to 160 dwellings on land at Higher Brooks.

The outline planning permission includes details of access but leaves other aspects such as design and layout for future consideration.

Curo will present on their reserved matters application (2023/2354/REM) for 280 homes on Somerton Road. This phase addresses appearance, landscaping, layout, and scale following the outline planning consent granted in 2019. The development also includes plans for pedestrian and vehicle access, sustainable drainage systems, open spaces, and infrastructure.

The committee will also consider a proposal from Mr S Patel (2024/2317/FUL) for the change of use of 1 The Bayliss Centre, 147 High Street, from a shop to a takeaway and restaurant, along with the erection of new signage.

Residents wishing to speak during the public question time must register their intention by noon on the day of the meeting by contacting the council via email at [email protected] or calling 01458 440588.

The meeting will be open to the public, with recording, photographing, and broadcasting permitted unless the council determines confidentiality is required. The committee's recommendations on these planning applications will be submitted to Somerset Council for final consideration.
