Street residents are being offered support to stay warm and well this winter with the launch of a soup kitchen and a winter coat exchange scheme.

Crispin Community Centre will be running a weekly soup kitchen at Crispin Hall, starting this Wednesday, 13 November, and continuing until 26 March 2025. Residents are welcome to drop by between 3pm and 6pm for a hot, homemade bowl of soup, designed to offer warmth and community through the colder months.

Somerset Libraries in Street are also doing their part, participating in the Winter Coat Exchange scheme. A selection of winter coats in excellent condition is already available at the library, where locals are invited to either pick up a coat or donate one without any need for a swap.

The coat exchange aims to ensure everyone has access to warm clothing. Donations of adult and children's coats in good, clean condition are encouraged, with all items handed directly to staff at participating libraries.

For more information on the coat exchange, visit the library or go online to Somerset Libraries on Facebook @somersetlibrariesuk. Queries can also be directed to [email protected].
