A fire crew from Street has helped free a casualty who was trapped in their vehicle after it overturned yesterday (June 10).

Just before 4pm, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue control received a call reporting one casualty trapped within a vehicle following a road traffic collision in Burtle Road, Burtle.

Fire engines from Glastonbury and Street were quickly mobilised along with a Heavy Rescue Vehicle from Glastonbury, due to reports of the vehicle being overturned and on its roof.

Fire crews got to work utilising the vehicle winch from the Heavy Rescue Vehicle, one Tirfor winch, stabfast equipment and hydraulic cutting equipment, and were able to successfully release the casualty from their vehicle. The casualty was then left in the hands of the paramedics on scene.
