Street and Glastonbury celebrate major milestones: Strode Centre's 50th anniversary and Tor Leisure's revamp.

Street and Glastonbury are gearing up for a double dose of celebrations, as Fusion Lifestyle marks 50 years of Strode Swimming & Fitness Centre and the grand reopening of Tor Leisure Centre after a £3million revamp.

And to get everyone in on the action, both centres are offering free three-day passes to residents—giving locals the chance to try out the state-of-the-art facilities at no cost.

Strode Swimming & Fitness turns 50 – and you're invited

It's been 50 years since Strode Swimming & Fitness Centre first opened its doors, and on Saturday 15 March, the team is throwing a birthday bash to remember.

With free activities all day, there's something for everyone—from spin classes and yoga to inflatable fun in the pool.

The celebrations kick off at 8am and run through to 4:30pm, with a packed timetable of group workouts and pool sessions.

Regional commercial manager Rob Taylor said: "The 50th anniversary is a great opportunity to celebrate with the community. We're looking forward to welcoming visitors to enjoy a fantastic day of free activities."

To take part, sessions can be booked via the Fusion Lifestyle app.

Tor Leisure Centre unveils £3m transformation

Over in Glastonbury, Tor Sports & Leisure Centre has officially reopened its doors after a £3million upgrade, with 500 visitors turning out to mark the occasion on Saturday 1 March.

Among the VIP guests was Sarah Dyke, Liberal Democrat MP for Glastonbury and Somerton, who cut the ribbon before guests got their first look at the brand-new gym, studios, therapy rooms, bar, and community meeting spaces.

The open day had something for everyone, with free personal training sessions, taster fitness classes, a bouncy castle, children's crafts, and even an outdoor family rounders game. Acrobatics displays kept the crowds entertained as locals explored everything the new-look centre has to offer.

Fusion Lifestyle CEO Anthony Cawley said: "Tor Leisure's reopening marks an exciting new chapter for the Glastonbury community. We know how vital centres like this are to town life, and we're confident this will become a much-loved space for locals and visitors alike."

Try it for free

To celebrate these two major milestones, Fusion Lifestyle is offering a free three-day pass to anyone in Street or Glastonbury who wants to check out the facilities.

Residents can sign up now to claim their pass and experience the best in fitness and leisure for free.
