Teachers, doctors, midwives and business owners from Street and Glastonbury have stripped off for a charity calendar ahead of Calendar Girls The Musical at Strode Theatre. The fundraiser was announced on Sunday, 12 April 2026, with the show due to run from Wednesday, 22 April to Saturday, 25 April.

The female cast from Glastonbury and Street Musical Comedy Society has posed in a series of Women's Institute-style shots, using cakes, knitting, jam and teapots to preserve their modesty. The calendar is raising money for Blood Cancer UK.

The idea mirrors the real-life WI group whose fundraising calendar inspired Calendar Girls. GSMCS said the original women produced their calendar 27 years ago and went on to raise £6 million for the charity.

Among those taking part is Mary Parker, owner of Abbey Tea Rooms in Glastonbury, who is also producing this year's musical. She said: "The ladies have been such good sports to take part in this.

"To say it was nerve racking is an understatement – it's not every day you strip down to nothing to sit in the window of your own tea rooms in Glastonbury High Street drinking a cup of tea. We've got a long way to go to match the £6m raised by the original Calendar Girls, but all the profit we make on the calendars will be going to a good cause."

Another of the women featured is West Huntspill midwife Sarah Scammell, 45, whose photograph was taken at The Becketts in Glastonbury High Street. She said: "I wasn't sure what to make of it at first, but once I'd stripped down to my birthday suit and climbed on top of that bar, I got right in the swing of it – and it's all for charity so that's an added bonus.

"I now feel fully prepared to bare all on stage."

The cast ranges in age from 38 to 75, with organisers saying many of the women will already be familiar faces from Somerset productions over the years.

The charity calendar costs £8.50, with £5 from each sale going to Blood Cancer UK, and is available via the society's shop. Tickets for Calendar Girls The Musical, which runs at Strode Theatre in Street from 22 to 25 April with an added Saturday matinee, are also on sale through the society's website.
