A crystal skull that was stolen from a shop on Glastonbury High Street in the early hours of Friday, 15 September, has been found and returned to its owner. The good news comes after an urgent appeal was launched on social media by the Mendip Neighbourhood Policing Team, who had originally been called to the scene when a window of the shop was found smashed and the skull missing.

The skull, described as a "valuable item", had been part of a display in the shop when it was stolen. In a bid to solve the case, authorities took to Facebook to ask for the public's help.

The police spokesperson initially said: "Early Friday morning 15 September, police were called to a shop on Glastonbury High Street, where a window had been smashed and a skull stolen from the display. This is a valuable item; if you have any information regarding the theft or someone offers it to you, please get in touch with us."

Though details surrounding the stolen item were limited, the police expressed their eagerness to recover the item and bring the culprits to justice. The crime reference number provided for the incident was 5223224416.

Following the discovery of the skull, the police released a statement thanking the public for their assistance: "The crystal skull that was stolen from a shop in Glastonbury High Street last week has been found and reunited with its owner. Thank you to everyone that helped locate it. Owner very happy. Investigation is still ongoing."

Authorities are urging anyone with additional information related to the theft to contact them on 101 or call Crimestoppers confidentially on 0800 555 111.
