In a significant announcement, Glastonbury Brass has named Steve Rogers as its new Resident Musical Director.

Rogers, whose musical credentials run deep, began his career in local brass bands before making a name for himself at the Sun Life Stanshawe Band in 1990. He further expanded his musical repertoire by studying at the University of Salford from 2001 and taking the Flugelhorn seat at the world-famous Brighouse & Rastrick Brass Band.

This appointment comes after Rogers completed his teacher training in 2006 and served as the Head of Music at a secondary school in Amesbury. He has been an active member of the local music scene, holding multiple roles including Flugelhorn, Principal Cornet, and Musical Director with Sherborne Town Band.

Steve Rogers is no stranger to the Glastonbury Brass community. Having joined as a player in 2021, he eagerly put his name forward for the Musical Director position recently.

On accepting the role, Rogers expressed his excitement, stating, "I'm very honoured to be given this opportunity with the band and it's great to be taking up the baton again. I'm extremely excited to be working with such an exceptional group of musicians and look forward to pushing the band to new heights."

Glastonbury Brass has already scheduled appearances in the local area, including a performance for Remembrance Day. The band is also in full swing preparing for the South West Brass Band Association's 75th Annual Championships in Torquay.
