Karen Gregory, Head of English, Media, Drama and Music said: "What an exciting World Book Day we have had! We have enjoyed celebrating the power of books and the impact that reading has on our lives and the whole event was bigger and better than ever before."

The school's corridors were a parade of literary characters, from Princesses and the Cat in the Hat to Harry Potter and the Grim Reaper.

The day's activities ranged from a treasure hunt and a book cover competition to sessions with a mystery storyteller every lesson, ensuring that students were immersed in the world of books throughout the day.

Ms Gregory added: "We've had such fun, spending time reminiscing about our favourite stories, appreciating that time spent with a book, is time well spent."
