Glastonbury’s Lux Tanning wins Somerset award after six months
By Laura Linham 9th Oct 2026
Glastonbury's Lux Tanning Studio has been named Somerset Regional Best Tanning Studio just six months after opening its doors.
The family-run business on Beckery Road, owned by Gitana Kopanceva, won its category in the England Business Awards and will now progress to the national final next month.
For Gitana, the recognition marks a milestone after the work involved in finding premises, arranging finance and turning her plans into a business.
Lux Tanning Studio, a sponsor of Glastonbury Nub News, opened with five sunbeds and an emphasis on making clients feel welcome. Family, friends and Gitana's fiancé, Nathan, helped bring the salon together, supporting everything from practical work to branding and design.
Speaking to Nub News before the regional final, Gitana said that family involvement made the nomination particularly meaningful. Now, with the award secured, she has thanked the customers and supporters who helped the business get established.
She said: "After being open for just 6 months, we honestly cannot believe we are saying this. We are absolutely over the moon! The amount of love, support and encouragement you have all shown our little family-run business means more to us than you will ever know.
"Behind the scenes there have been so many long days, sleepless nights, hard work, stress and moments where we nearly gave up… but tonight, standing here amongst some of the best, it all feels worth it. From opening our doors just 6 months ago to now being crowned Somerset Regional Best Tanning Studio — what an incredible journey it has been.
"And now… England's Grand Nationals, here we come next month. We genuinely couldn't have done this without every single person who has walked through our doors, supported us, recommended us, left us reviews, shared our posts and believed in us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
As the colder months approach, Gitana hopes the award will encourage more people to discover the family-run business on Beckery Road. She said the support Lux has received since opening means a great deal, and residents can continue to support the studio by recommending it to friends and following its news on Facebook and Instagram.
