Glastonbury Red Brick battleback begins with clean-up
By Laura Linham 9th Apr 2026
Red Brick Building in Glastonbury says a recovery committee has been formed and a community clean-up day is now planned for Sunday, 27 April.
In a Facebook update, the organisation said practical work has already started on site. Fencing is being reinstated, the fly-tipping area is being tackled and security cameras are on the way.
It said 18 tenants are still working from the building. According to the post, those tenants, remaining board members and shareholders have now come together to form an RBB Recovery Committee.
Red Brick said the immediate focus is on keeping the building open and functioning, supporting existing tenants, welcoming new ones and dealing with the condition of the site, including the fly-tipping area nearby.
Volunteers are now being asked to help with the clean-up on 27 April. The work is expected to include sorting wood, metal and soft furnishings, and organisers said hi-vis will be required.
The group also said Sleek Easy Clean will provide expert supervision for the clean-up, with specialist experience in biocleans and hazardous waste.
A fundraiser organised by Andy Denham has already raised more than £1,200, according to the update. The money is intended to help pay for skips and waste removal.
The latest statement follows a period of uncertainty around the building after the fallout from the failed Life Factory project, which left Red Brick under financial pressure and raised wider questions about its future. Red Brick said more information will be shared as work continues.
